Introducing Reddit Markdown with Fabric – Simplify Reddit Post Extraction for Self-Hosters!
Hey everyone!
I’ve just released a small but powerful (at least for me) tool for fellow self-hosters and developers. This script makes it super simple to extract text from Reddit posts and convert it into a neat Markdown file. It even integrates with Fabric to process and append summaries directly to the Markdown output.
Why did I create it?
There are times when you come across insightful or interesting Reddit threads, and it would be useful to save and format that content for future reference. This tool streamlines the process: pulling the Reddit post & comments, formatting it into Markdown, and allowing you to run custom summaries via Fabric. Key Features:
- Extract text directly from any Reddit post.
- Convert the content (post, author, upvotes, comments, etc.) into structured Markdown files.
- Seamlessly integrate Fabric to add custom patterns and summaries to your files.
- Easy CLI usage, just provide the Reddit post URL and an output directory.
For those who want more automation, there’s also an iOS Shortcut that lets you run this directly from your iPhone via SSH! Try it here.
